Did NASA Really Find Another Earth?

Humans’ greed is rather unlimited, it has always been one of the major factors that had driven humanity’s evolution to limitless heights. Obviously, humanity’s greed is a common and inevitable part of the human nature. Although and as you’ll know greed can be both a good and a bad deed at the same time. Luckily, scientists can put that greed to a better usage, for instance,  investigating the universe for us. As vague as the universe may be, but scientists and astronomers are doing the best they can to fully understand how it works. There’s always an ongoing urge to find another suitable planet that can habitable by human beings, Astronomers are working day and night to come across a planet with atmosphere that is similar to ours. They have been examining and investigating outer space every way possible with two main objects in mind, first, to come across even the slightest signs of life outside of earth, and second, is to identify a planet that can be suitable for our race to settle in. NASA is one of the very well known entities that’s trying to fulfill these goals. NASA is doing an extremely great job in trying to understand the universe, nonetheless and of course the universe is as mysterious as ever, and every time we hear something about the universe and how vast it is, several questions pops up in our minds, are we really alone in the universe? Is there a planet that is similar to ours?

NASA is doing a great job in studying and analyzing everything about outer-space. NASA has discovered more than 2000 exoplanets using the Kepler space telescope, but their most interesting discovery was an exoplanet that looks exactly like earth. Astronomers have identified an exoplanet nearly the same size as earth, and there’s a probability that even liquid water exists on its surface which is always an indication that that planet could support life. Just imagine how fascinating that would be.

Kepler was the missions that keeps on giving, in October 2018, NASA’s Kepler ran out of fuel after 9 years of surveying outer space in a very detailed way. After two years of retirement scientists re-examined old Kepler data to find out the exoplanet that was named ‘Kepler 1649c’.

  • ‘Kepler-1649c’ characteristics
  • 300 light years away from earth.
  • It is only 1.06 times larger than earth.
  • It orbits around a red dwarf.
  • Water probably exists on its surface.

“This intriguing, distant world gives us even greater hope that a second Earth lies among the stars, waiting to be found,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of NASA’s science mission directorate in Washington, D.C.

In science to more we try the luckier we get and who knows what the future holds for us, we might find the answers we’ve all been looking for, lets just hope we’re all alive to witness such great discoveries and I’m pretty sure that it won’t last that long until scientists find some alien species out there.
